He currently resides in Fairfield, Connecticut with his wife Tricia and their three children Nicole, Shane and Michael.
Silver Seasons is the combination of Michael’s exceptional knowledge of jewelry making and his love of nature.
Starting as an apprentice mold cutter in 1973, Michael soon became a master precious metal caster and mold maker.
In 1976, seeking even more knowledge, Michael moved on to Rochester Institute of Technology’s prestigious School for American Craftsmen.
While studying under esteemed designers Hans Christenson and Gary Griffin, he mastered many of the techniques he uses today to capture the beauty and exquisite detail of nature in metal.
After graduation in 1980, Michael returned to the jewelry manufacturing community and worked for some of America’s leading jewelry designers.
In 1991, lucky enough to be living in the Connecticut countryside and working near New York City’s flower district, Michael’s love of nature began to combine with his love of jewelry. He began experimenting with the techniques that eventually launched the Silver Seasons collection in 1992.
Silver Seasons jewelry is made using the lost wax casting method. Michael has perfected the technique of creating models from natural elements by encasing a botanical element into a mold that is then heated. The botanical element inside is burned away and a perfect mold of the object is left behind.
By creating these molds directly from the plants themselves, he is able to create copies of nature that reflect the exquisite beauty and intricate detail of the natural world.
This unique jewelry collection captures the beauty and exquisite detail of nature using soft patinas on bronze accented with pearls, beads, coral and other gems. His artistic attention to the finest of details gives you true “nature to botanical” jewelry.
The Michael Michaud jewelry line is produced in the USA by Silver Seasons, and reflects both his singularly creative concepts and his love for nature’s organic beauty. Michael’s jewelry gives witness to his inspirations for his visionary collections in every corner of the natural world, and filters them through his unique artistic perspective to create truly exceptional jewelry.
